GB7 Minutes 01-23-10

 

Attendees:

·         Verne Wetherholt

Open Meeting:

·         Meeting began at 1:08 PM and quorum was confirmed.

·         Previous Meeting Minutes were read.

o        A motion was made to amend the minutes to mention the discussion of By-Laws to be changed at the 1/23/10 meeting. Motion passed.

o        A motion was made to accept the minutes as amended. Motion passed.


Officer Reports:

·         President, Vice President, Secretary, Directors: None

·         Treasure’s Rpt:

o        $12,146.29 / No outstanding debits. / Bank statements for the GB7 account delayed.


Committee Reports:

·         Business Affairs:  None

·         Technology: None

·         Conventions:

o        Origins: March 1ST, 2010 is the deadline for events submission.  Please send events to John Minderman.  The submission information and event spreadsheet will be posted on website also.

o        Gen Con:  Jan 29th first cut-off.  Please submit events to James Richards or Verne.

§         Sparks event submission changing format and fewer events will be set forth than in the past.

§         Crimson Valor and Starship Troopers have submitted their events.

§         Mr. Mike Copeland will be contacted to have events by deadline. President would like to have events in by Jan 29th.

·         Elections: None

·         Inventory:

o        Need to re-organize space within garage in May time-period.

 

·         Local Chapters & Guilds: None

·         Membership:

o        Late deposits may have caused inaccuracy of reported memberships, but will be rectified shortly between Treasurer/Membership committee chairs.

·         Newsletter: Initial one given to the President for publishing, along with dates posted on the website.

Chapter/Guild Reports:

Chapters

·         Gamers of the Apocalypse:  Will be at Gencon, have local game day events.  Possible visitation by James’s to encourage membership and assisting with additional chapter startup.

·         Hangman: They have two current GB7 members (but may be possible revitalize them).

·         League of Extraordinary Gamers: Preparing for Fire and Ice.

·         MLC: Game Day in near future, along with some board game training by Bill Blazek and Verne.

·         Outer Rim: There are 27 active members.  A Serenity ongoing campaign started.  30 plus members participated at VerneCon2010.  Some members are planning to attend Fire & Ice and M-Con.

·         Rising Phoenix: M-Con will occur. Will submit a full game schedule at Fire & Ice.

·         Southern Dragons: Weekly games are occurring.  An annual meeting is planned for 2/20/10 including election of officers. There are currently 24 members.

·         WolfPack: Wolf Con 5 went extraordinarily well, along with the local meeting place.  There is a game day possible late Spring/Summer. They are looking into a location.

Guilds:

2009/2010 Conventions:

Other conventions to add:

·         Winter War: Champaign, IL Jan 29-30

·         Who’s Yer Con: North Indianapolis March 13th

Old Business:

·         Membership Benefits were discussed.  A formal list will be distributed to board members for review and then published to the membership.

o        Advantage of being part of a large national club

o        Connection network for gamers

o        Large Club benefit benefits at Gencon and Origins.

§         There is no need to buy Badge and then get reimbursement.

§         There is no need to pay for Hotel Room and then get reimbursement.

§         Preferred placement of game events.

§         Advertisement of Ongoing Campaigns in booklet.

o        Vendor discounts to members (will need membership cards).

o        Play Testing Opportunities

o        Chapter Support

o        Premier participation for On-Going Campaigns.

Other ideas for the future:

o        Remote play over the internet for GB7 games events.

o        Bulletin board on website to set up games and swap (buy/sell) items.

o        GameBase7 branded stuff (to Recognize Members at Cons).

o        Getting discounts getting into conventions.

o        More local game support for Chapters.

o        GB7 Store/Library

·         Promotion of the Club to Vendors and Gamers (GB7 Dice bags and Table Throws):

o        Dice Bags: Quality cost effective dice bags have not been found at this time.

o        Table toppers: $180 approx cost, looking for other avenues to find for cost effectiveness.

o        Vinyl Signs: Possible updating of current signs.

 

Floor Open to New Business:

·         New Business

o        Website access for members.

o        Reimbursement requests for various Club costs should be sent in to Lori.

o        Next Meeting: Location will be M-Con on March 27th at around 1:00 PM.

 

A motion was made to close the meeting at 2:45 PM by Lori and seconded by Jon Minderman.  Motion passed.
